Did you know that your nursing bra can impact breast health when you're lactating?

It's true! The bra you choose can affect your risk of common complications like clogged ducts and mastitis, so finding the best style to optimize breast health in your stage is important. You deserve to choose and wear your nursing bras with confidence, so we created a system that's as simple as 1, 2, 3 – breaking breastfeeding into three stages based on your body's needs, and offering bras designed with an IBCLC to support the needs of each transition.

Create your combination of three bras, one for each stage of breastfeeding, including:

  • (1) Everything Bra (Stage 1-optimized)
  • (1) So Easy Bra 2.0 (Stage 2-optimized)
  • (1) Do Anything Bra (Stage 3-optimized)

Please refer to sizing recommendations
below, as fit varies from bra to bra.

Why You'll Love It

The Everything Bra:

  • Breathable, ultra-stretchy, and ultra-soft fabric
  • Nursing clips for easy access, elastic neckline for whenever faster access is needed
  • Front slider-adjustable straps for ease with cup fluctuations throughout the day
  • Custom five-row extended back closure, ensuring comfort no matter how unpredictable your band or cup size may be
  • Designed with an IBCLC to ensure no acute points of constriction or compression, which can potentially contribute to clogged ducts and mastitis

The So Easy Bra 2.0:

  • The clip-free, pull-down design offers fast, easy nursing access.
  • Our fabrics are made to the OEKO-TEX 100 safety standard which tests against a list of over 1000 harmful substances.
  • Made with a premium fabric that stretches to comfortably flex with breast fluctuations throughout your day with light support and no compression.
  • Our adjustable soft elastic straps are high stretch and low tension, making it comfortable to pull the cup below your breast, stay put while nursing, and simply pull back up when finished. Strap width increases at sizes Large and X-Large.
  • A perfect balance of coverage in the front and back of this bra lets you feel like you and looks great under clothes while also smoothing you out.

The Do Anything Bra:

  • Enables hands-free pumping with leading pump brands (Spectra, Ameda, Motif Medical, and most Medela flanges )
  • Sliders for bra-strap adjustment positioned in the front so you can quickly and easily tighten when pumping and loosen when not
  • Straps convert to racer back for additional support
  • Our fabrics are made to the OEKO-TEX 100 safety standard which tests against a list of over 1000 harmful substances.
  • Easy front clip nursing access
  • Extended back closure, ensuring comfort regardless of fluctuations in breast size throughout the day

How to choose a bra that optimizes your breast health.

Months 0-3 Postpartum

In Stage 1, you will likely experience major fluctuations as your body adapts to increasing levels of milk production. This is when breasts are most likely to get engorged and the associated risks of clogged ducts and mastitis is highest.

WE RECOMMEND

All-day and sleeping:
No bra or a super stretchy, non-compressive bra, like The Everything Bra or The Effortless Bra

For pumping or more support:
You can wear a more structured bra—like The So Easy Bra, or The Do Anything Bra—for 3 hours or less. In Stage 1 you’re at greater risk for complications like plugged ducts and mastitis, which is why we recommend wearing more compressive bras – like pump bras – for only a few hours. The idea is that you want to avoid becoming engorged, or even full of milk, while wearing a compressive bra. In Stage 1, that happens more frequently, hence the 3-hour limit for wearing compressive bras during this period.

Months 3-6 Postpartum

In Stage 2, your breasts are still adjusting to lactation, but fluctuations are less extreme. This means the frequency of engorgement decreases so you can introduce a bit of support in your all-day bra.

WE RECOMMEND

All-day:
You can introduce more shape and support as long as it still stretches with fluctuations — like The So Easy Bra. For sleeping:
If you are lactating, you should always go back to a Stage 1 Bra — like The Everything Bra or The Effortless Bra — or no bra at night when breasts are most full.

For pumping or more support:
You can wear a more structured bra — like The Do Anything Bra — for 4 hours or less. In Stage 2 you’re still at increased risk for complications like plugged ducts and mastitis, so we recommend wearing more compressive bras – like pump bras – for several hours at most. The idea is that you want to avoid becoming engorged, or even full of milk, while wearing a compressive bra. In Stage 2 that happens more frequently, hence the 4-hour limit for wearing compressive bras during this period.

Months 6+ Postpartum

In Stage 3, your breasts have adjusted more and fluctuate less. The fat content of your milk also increases and the rate of your baby's growth slows, so feeding may be less frequent. With that, the risk of complications is much lower (but not zero), so it's safe to wear a bra with more support during the day.

WE RECOMMEND

All-day:
You can wear a more structured bra — like The Do Anything Bra — as long as you pump or nurse every 3-4 hours to avoid engorgement.

For sleeping:
If you are lactating, you should always go back to a Stage 1 bra — like The Everything Bra or The Effortless Bra — or no bra at night when breasts are most full.

Pre-Lactation

While pregnant, the bra you wear comes down to comfort. Only once you are lactating does your bra impact breast health. Until birth, wear what feels good.

Bodily Tip: During pregnancy, the balance of support and stretch in our Stage 2 bra — The So Easy Bra — is an ideal combination to maximize comfort through your bodily changes.

Did You Know?

Most common breastfeeding issues are linked to the bras we wear. But wearing a bra that you like shouldn't expose you to features that can negatively impact milk supply, or potentially increase risk of clogged ducts and mastitis. That's why we created a system for selecting bras that makes it easy to optimize for breast health (check out The Stages of Breastfeeding for choosing a nursing bra that's right for you), and designed all of our bras together with a lactation consultant.
